I've been on the hiring process for rather big company and all kind of frauds happened on daily basis. Faux identities, sub-hiring for work, outsourcing to low cost countries, even stuff like hiring actors for interviews and intimidation tactics (sic) plus a lot lot more. Hiring (especially remotely) is a game and at some level you need to incorporate some anti-fraud techniques.
