Remote Work Drove over 60% of Housing Prices, Federal Study Finds
- SavageBeast 4y agoI live downtown Austin TX, 78701 - and this city is and has been putting up office towers a'plenty before, during and after "the pandemic". SOMONE is going to be working in these offices. The shift to remote work is far from becoming permanent. Summer of 2023 we will be deep in a recession and people will be begging for an office to come to. Those who remember 2008ish timeframe may recall this vibe in the air.
- spigottoday 4y agoI don't mean to be difficult, but I don't get it. If I have less money because of a recession the time and expense of commuting could be put to better use: shopping cooking cleaning and taking care of family my self. If I now live in a home and can no longer afford it it makes more sense move to a location with the same or lower cost of living compared to moveing close to a city with a higher cost of living plus the time and expense of a commute. If I didn't have some other pressing need having less money would not motivate me to run to an office.
