Ask HN: How to stay active on Twitter, Reddit, HN, IH, PH ?
As a tech founder, there is:
- HN
- Twitter
- Reddit
- PH
- IH
How the hell does one stay active on all these and get time to do anything else?
Do you just repost the same content everywhere? Is there any real benefit from joining and investing time into these communities?
- jjzhiyuan 4y agoI'm not sure... but I personally put all information to RSS Readers :)
- amukbils 4y agoI've been hearing RSS for a while but never bothered to check. I'll take a look. Any links you care to share on how to go about this?
- sn0w_crash 4y agoPick one and live there. You’ll get better results than spreading yourself thin. The best brands find a network that works for them and double down.
- amukbils 4y agoGood advice. PG started his own essays website and it's incredibly popular.
- h2odragon 4y agoAs a "founder", you should have more important uses of your time than keeping up with internet news. If you're in a field where the news potentially impacts the business, hire someone cheap to watch and filter the fountain of crap for you.
- amukbils 4y agoDang. Agreed, but there's this idea that there exists an opportunity to market and sell your product to these communities. I guess it's not as truthful as I had previously thought.
- WallyFunk 4y ago> Do you just repost the same content everywhere? I treat each platform differently. Reposting the same content across platforms is too easy and comes across as unprofessional. You need to leverage the unique selling point of each channel you're on. So Twitter would be handy for iterative small changes announcements, Facebook could be for more long-form content and using groups and pages to elaborate on topics. Reddit could be used for AMAs and forum-like discussion, aswell as Q&A.
- amukbils 4y agoI've come to the conclusion that it's mostly a waste of time to be honest. I'll refrain for a while. But when I do post, I'll be helpful and interactive. Like replying to these comments Iguess. Good insight tho.
