Normally you start raising prices when you’ve snuffed out the competition and growth has slowed substantially. The problem Twitch is leaving a nice big opening for YouTube to start grabbing up marketshare. Perhaps Twitch has correctly determined that YouTube won’t seriously pursue video game streamers or that their feature set is unique enough that streamers and viewers won’t leave in droves. Twitch has out survived competitors both upstart and big tech backed. But YouTube is already where most produced gaming videos are, they already have an ecosystem of content producers, viewers, and advertisers ready to go.
