Having read this I can only assume apple is trying to gouge money as usual. No recourse for the developer but to waste their time and money on a pointless number update. Were I developing an app I would never target an apple device, and anything I developed would be in the same vein and the article's app. At least with android I could develop an app and target the fdroid store.
