Electric cars charging at night could make America’s power grids unstable
- more_corn 4y agoThis article is stupid. There’s currently a problem in that there’s a sine wave demand curve. High demand during the day low at night. Electric cars HELP with this. Flattening the curve allows power companies to deploy stable (greener) energy sources without having to resort to as much natural gas to match the demand curve. A better headline should be “the solution to a current problem could potentially in ten years create the inverse problem”. That’s fine. Also, having your peak while the rest of the country has a trough is financially beneficial from a wholesale energy perspective.
