Out of curiosity, why has the original article title been edited ?
- dang 4y agoBecause of the linkbait "you" (https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=true&query=by%3Adang%20%22linkbait%20you%22&sort=byDate&type=comment https://hn.algolia.com/?dateRange=all&page=0&prefix=true&que...). The site guidelines ask to remove linkbait: "Please use the original title, unless it is misleading or linkbait" - https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html. We like to do minimal edits to titles, so taking a substring is often best. I was feeling proud of myself for figuring out how to do that in this case, until I noticed that the previous submission had figured out the same thing.
