My 2 cents for people worried about growing old in tech - invest heavily in your network. Be nice to your colleagues, help out whenever you can. Yes, you "lose" 20-30 minutes a week but you possibly gain employment later on. All those colleagues will eventually leave to other companies and become a crucial part of your future employment. This pays dividends. Also being nice and helpful whenever you can is just a nicer life in general imo.
