I've had a few brands and products for plant-based "meat".
One brand's products were simply awful and another brand managed to produce a very convincing burger that I wouldn't order again. The convincing burger was acceptably tasty but overly dry and priced higher than their real beef burger. It tasted like "beef", but it didn't taste "good".
As products get better, we'll see more adoption, but it will take some effort to overcome the damage done by releasing products that don't fare favorably on their own. The average consumer isn't going to pay more for a product that isn't as "good".
