Origin of life: Chemical autonomous agents survive using associative learning
- p4bl0 4y agoI discovered this publication because one of the author, David Louapre, is a quite famous science YouTuber in France. He holds a PhD in fundamental physics and works at Ubisoft now, but he keeps regularly publishing awesome science videos and blog posts. He recently made a video about this work of his [2]. This particular work started two years ago when he made a video about LYFE [1] and contacted Stuart Bartlett (the other author of the linked paper) to ask for permission to re-use some of his work, which David Louapre didn't do in the end because in the meantime he re-implemented the system himself, obtaining very cool visual results [1]. Bartlett saw what Louapre made and proposed to continue working together, and the results of their collaborative work in now published in Physical Review E. Both videos are in French, sorry, you could try using youtube's auto-translated subtitles but I'm not sure of the quality of the result: [1] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7Yw6PPg7JU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7Yw6PPg7JU [2] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-pV9vxMF8Q https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-pV9vxMF8Q
