The show isn’t bad as such. But why is it so middle-of-the-road? Because the living beating heart of a good show, is a good story with good writing. Everything else - the actors, the scenery, the effects, the sound - is just there to support the telling. But here, the heart of the show is a brand. The story and dialogue was seemingly written to order in some mechanical, box-ticking fashion, like it was just the lights being rigged. (Not to disparage the skill that goes into light rigging).
