Is it ever possible to have a fair game of chess?
- incomingpain 4y agoIf you play anonymously you virtually never see cheaters. Every so often you get an upset person who was playing quickly, suddenly takes a long think and then all moves subsequently need many seconds to play. Obviously turning an engine on. The caveat about playing anonymous is that you play all kinds of people. Noobs you crush and stronger players you don't learn a great deal from. Ideally you want to play people around your own strength. which means getting a rating and competing properly. Now you have to deal with engines. I find that's not a big deal. It's against the rules to sandbag your own rating intentionally but if cheaters are going to do it for you... hell ya.
