Everything about what you said seems reasonable, but there's a problem when it comes to normal everyday life in America if you're not a rich person going out to $$$$ establishments.
In America, there's no deep cultural sentiment about providing a good experience like in Japan for instance. Whether a Japanese waiter gets a tip or not, you have a very good chance of getting at least decent and attentive service.
But typical service in America can be dreadful, and that's even with a financial incentive. If many Americans weren't paid extra to even pretend to care, basic service standards would be nonexistent.
I'm not some highfalutin fancy guy going out to elite establishments and demanding white glove service and pre-chewed caviar on a folded pillow from a valet. I'm just a normal guy going out for a burger or something once in a while and appreciating a waiter coming to my table a few times with a water pitcher and asking me if need anything.
Call me selfish or whatever, but service is already beyond awful in the US and I don't see how it improves with removing tipping.
