Doesn't Moore's law die every two years, since like 1973 or something?

It's been a long time since I looked at Moore's paper but if I was going to sum up 'Moore's law' today I would say it's about transistor/component count of state of the art integrated circuits doubling approximately every two years. It was never (directly) about performance/cost?
