Some had gotten burned out after severe crunches and they needed very long breaks/vacations from writing software. Two that I knew of were still burned out 18 months after the crunch ended. I don't mind putting out fires. It happens. I take offense when those fires are intentionally started by mismanagers. The story of "EA Spouse" is not unique to the game industry.
