I remember my friend telling me the crazy things he did in order do avoid draft during the Vietnam War - not washing for a month, smelling shit and so on. But consciously breaking one's arm seems like a far more desperate move. Kind of sad when you think longer about this. Times have changed and common people still have to fight against their will just because their monarch says so. One would think we've evolved past that stage already.
