Designers worry Adobe won’t let Figma flourish
- PaulHoule 4y agoMy guess is that Adobe really believes in the Figma model and one of the reasons why CC has stagnated is that it is not really a "cloud" product and that Adobe doesn't completely believe in it. For one thing all the Adobe CC products are slow to start which is a bit annoying. I've been able to live with Lightroom by starting a new catalog every six months but I certainly think about replacing it, in fact most of my photography now is stereo photos i take with https://prd.kandaovr.com/product/qoocam-ego/ https://prd.kandaovr.com/product/qoocam-ego/ I have written my own software for converting stereo images to red/cyan anaglyphs, right now I have just one slider for adjusting the disparity but it's getting clear I need an exposure slider, also a sharpness slider, and probably a few others. Illustrator strikes me as the weakest product in CC for a few reasons. For one thing it is too low level, I used to make very complex diagrams for slides for sales presentations back when I was a founder, the kind of thing that people make in Figma today, but I used Powerpoint instead of Illustrator because I could knock these out quickly in Powerpoint. The GFX primitives in Illustrator are also pretty bad. I used to think I was unartistic because I struggled to draw with Bézier curves but then I looked into the resource packs of one of my favorite games and found that even Tsunako can't draw anime characters with Bézier curves. The patents for NURBS ran out a long time ago but most of the drawing tools still use curves that are difficult to work with.
