- permo-w 4y agowho is Spee Chunion and why does he need to be freed?
- mynameisvlad 4y agoOr just reading the article, which features some things the author feels caused them to be “cancelled”. They’re a right wing “bastion of free speech” and proud of it.
- peteradio 4y agoIs there something intrinsically bad about "right wing" now?
- mynameisvlad 4y agoYes. See literally the world around you.
- peteradio 4y agoSeems like a very balanced perspective.
- mynameisvlad 4y agoDo you have a counter-argument? Anything at all to show how right wing ideology is not literally and figuratively destroying the world?
- ben_w 4y agoCareful now. "Right" and "left" are over-simplified labels covering a very broad range of preferences, and sometimes used as badges of self-identity in order to make arbitrary ideologies more palatable to the general public. For example, the actual literal Nazi party's name translates as "nationalist socialist", even though they hated communism so much that communists were one of the groups sent to the death camps, and they chose this name because socialism was a vote-winner in Weimar-era Germany.
- peteradio 4y agoAnd the cure for this is driving it underground via censorship?
- mynameisvlad 4y agoYou asked if there is something bad about “right wing”, I explained there is, you disagreed and have no counter-arguments to hold up. Stick to the topic you yourself established, don’t move the goal posts. If you have nothing more to contribute, then don’t.
- permo-w 4y agowhere did you hear such a good idea?
- caeril 4y ago> literally [...] destroying the world Left-wing ideology is trying to drive five billion people, as fast as possible, to first-world living standards (via either open borders fanaticism, direct aid, or economic globalization), with the accompanying carbon footprint implied by a first-world lifestyle. All whilst bemoaning carbon emissions. Yawn. Wake me when your own ideological compatriots demonstrate your concern for the climate with policies that won't absolutely destroy it. As it currently stands, you're actively trying for 500ppm.
- permo-w 4y ago>Left-wing ideology is trying to drive five billion people, as fast as possible, to first-world living standards (via either open borders fanaticism, direct aid, or economic globalization), with the accompanying carbon footprint implied by a first-world lifestyle. what you're describing here is capitalism.
- henearkr 4y agoProbably the same kind of people who replied to me "and so what is bad about nationalism?" a few weeks ago on HN...
- ndsipa_pomu 4y agoI believe there was a worldwide war specifically to stop some right wing extremists from taking over and killing anyone they didn't like
