Does anyone know how to have a portable setup (all email IMAP preconfigured + settings) in either Thunderbird or Betterbird?
So I can let Dropbox/something sync or symlink and hop between computers.
- tomw1808 4y agoHey, wow, I never thought of that. I am using Dropbox to sync my documents and all kind of stuff between computers. Also some configs. But not anything mail related, as it's anyways on imap (or gmail for some). How would you setup that? Is that even supported by Thunderbird?
- pneumatic1 4y agoYea this is possible. I can’t remember exactly how but I installed Dropbox on both computers and put the Thunderbird profile in there. Iirc the profile directory was getting conflicting writes from each computer. But it ended up working somehow.
- hpd 4y agoHave you tried portable thunderbird(from portableapps.com) ? My way of doing what you described has been to setup thunderbird on one machine and then sync it on the network through syncthing and am quite happy with this setup. Another option would be to change the default path where the profile is saved, but the portable variant is much more cleaner IMO.
