They didn't bother to stock up either during the pandemic and let the supply chain languish. Now they are paying for it. Electronic parts are literally the easiest components to store. You can just dump them in sealed cartons on the factory floor (since production slowed down/shut off) and chips-on-tape are very space efficient.
