To me this proves the party with the loudest voice and most money wins in the long run, or the squeaky wheel gets the grease. They just made a big enough stink for long enough that eventually someone caved in. I followed the podcast and definitely didn’t think the case that he was innocent was very strong. Reminds me of The Staircase, but with more social justice and identity politics to really muddy the conversation. The victim’s family wasn’t even given a heads up or time to prepare and find a lawyer to speak at the hearing.
