China has nukes, US has nukes: Ukraine a 2nd time? (btw, ppl are still killing each other over there and nobody really understands why).

  It's not like Ukraine. US troops and navy would defend Taiwan. They're not fighting against Russia.

I hope instead of war world move more towards reconciliation and vie for more peaceful solutions, not prolong a conflict by selling more weapons. Soon this will be the same story repeated for Taiwan against China. Many people are facing death in flood hit Pakistan with over 13 million not having access to clean water, world is staring at a staggering number of fatalities more than the total casualty in Ukraine war. But Pakistan’s disaster is not important, same for Sri Lanka. In UN assembly all focus will again be on Ukraine with lots of speeches and making special exceptions for virtual speech, unlucky for developing world UN doesn’t have enough bandwidth for them.

    I wrote "nukes". Direct war between China and US means nukes, aka escalation until nuclear war. We are talking billions of deaths. In means all that must be figured out in a peaceful way. And yet, in Ukraine, people are killing each other, and nobody knows really why.

      It's very clear why people are killing each other in Ukraine. Russians elected a right-wing authoritarian. He wants to bring back the land holdings of the Soviet Union, so he invaded Ukraine.

        No, it's not clear why, I don't believe that could be the main reason, and I have also a hard time believing it is related to the newly discovered fossil gas reserves in-land and at sea of Ukraine, or that 4000 neo-nazi azov bataillon (russian wagner pmc is said to be actually a neo-nazi pmc and they are putting a mess in africa), etc. And also, there is no reasons to believe the US would do more for Taiwan than for Ukraine. Not to mention that a good part of the US seems to be done to do the dying for others: I think the message in clear, for democracy and freedom, the US will support such country with weapons and economic sanctions against the attackers, but won't do the dying anymore, that's in charge of the country ppl themselves, and it is ever more true if the attackers have nukes.

    It is not clear that US population support would be there for sending US troops into the fray. The US is ok with sending weapons and other support, sending its own troops is another thing, and will not be knowable until something actually happens.
