Ask HN: What to Do with Lanyards from Conferences?
I have been to some tech conferences in the last years and collected some lanyards and badges. While I think it would be cool to create a collage of the badges, I'm not sure what to do with all these lanyards. Any ideas?

- mattnewport 4y agoOptions: 1) Throw them in the garbage as soon as the final session is over. 2) Prepare for your appearance on "Hoarders". 3) There is no third option.
- algoatecorn 4y agoGet a scrapbook.
- cafard 4y agoI guess that you could cut them above the join and see whether they work as shoelaces. That could be a fashion statement of sorts--high-top sneakers with recycled-lanyard shoelaces of different colors.
- I_dev_outdoors 4y agoreplace the lanyard of your work badge if you wear one and then throw the others away.
- kleer001 4y agoCut them to 6 to 8 inches long then sew them together as a scarf ?
- MisterSandman 4y agoI use them as keychains. I still think lanyard make bette rkeychains than keychains, since it makes it more visible but still relatively portable.
- coretx 4y agoStore them somewhere for a decade. Auction them somewhere. Enjoy the money.
- matt_the_bass 4y agoI have 2 nice leather ones I got from a friend that worked in the leather industry (they gave them out at tradeshows). I keep them and reuse them at all the shows/conferences I go to. I skip even taking the lanyards given out with the badge.
