Don't forget to check power usage after a few minutes. My old Panasonic TV from 2007 would switch to a pre-standby state initially, then to a "deep standby" after about 60 seconds when the power usage dropped below 1 watt. Regarding Sony, I found them the worst offender for standby power in my home stereo equipment which I've now replaced.
