Ask HN: Open-source video transcribing software?
Hello all, I need to transcribe some text from a video, and would like recommendations for any software you know of that would be free to use?
Thanks!

In their website I only see an interface for either uploading audio or submitting transcriptions: https://commonvoice.mozilla.org/es https://commonvoice.mozilla.org/es The Github repo they mention (https://github.com/common-voice/common-voice https://github.com/common-voice/common-voice) seems to be just that sample collection software. I do not see where I can download the software to transcribe audio. Edit: All right, the speech recognition part is actually called DeepSpeech: https://opensource.com/article/22/1/voice-text-mozilla-deepspeech https://opensource.com/article/22/1/voice-text-mozilla-deeps... https://github.com/mozilla/DeepSpeech https://github.com/mozilla/DeepSpeech

- speedgoose 4y agoYou can check the commit activity on most GitHub projects related to this.
- AlbertoGP 4y agoSome months ago I tried the Silero Models: https://github.com/snakers4/silero-models https://github.com/snakers4/silero-models With the audio sources I had, in English, the transcription had many mistakes. The good side is that installing and running the software worked as described in their documentation, so maybe it’s worth giving it a try by yourself.
- solardev 4y agoDoes it just have to be free to use, or does it have to be an open source? Free: Just upload them to private YouTube videos and Google will transcribe it for you. You can then manually refine the captions and download the files afterward.
- Dimidium-07 4y agoThere is a software called Type Studio which have a free version and supports many different languages I guess.
