Car: steering, gas, brakes, environmental controls. Smartphone: Phone, navigation, music. For me there is one connection: Bluetooth to play the phone's music through the car's speakers. Besides that, I agree - no reason to connect. But I feel like I'm missing something as there is so much discussion about connecting them.
