In Pittsburgh, several have failed. One north of Pittsburgh turned into a housing plan. It took longer than expected because the irrigation lines had asbestos in them and needed to be remediated. Another to the east was originally going to be used for fracking, but the surrounding communities voted that down. It has been added to the county land conservancy. Efforts are under way to naturalize the land. Locals use it as a trail. It was amazing to me how fast nature took over once the golf course closed.
