Google is almost unusable for searching information these days. Recently I tried to google milwaukee because the redlettermedia guys are from there and it kept giving me links to some power tool company websites. Even the wikipedia link goes to Milwaukee Electric Tool article. You need to jump through hoops just to get to the city of Milwaukee article. Little things like this are getting more and more common with the trash pile that is google search engine. Even bing is better, though switching to that is clearly not a long term solution. Google is a joke. I miss the days when it was good.
- kjreact 4y agoSorry, I call BS here. Maybe you just don’t know how to use Google (which I find hard to believe for the users of this forum), but adding -tool to the search immediately shows Milwaukee’s gov website as the 2nd result after the Bucks (the NBA team). Please stop trolling.
- jjeaff 4y agoI mean, Milwaukee is a major tool brand. It stands to reason that the vast majority of people searching "Milwaukee" would be looking for tools, not the city. Searching the word "apple" also brings up the company, not the fruit first. It doesn't even make that much sense to search for a city name by the city only since most city names, including Milwaukee, exist in more than one state. "Milwaukee MI" returns the Wikipedia page for the city as the first result.
