I could be wrong as I am ESL and moved to USA at a young age.
I believe we were taught cursive to build motor skills. My teachers always gave me good remarks for my neat handwriting, and I remember spending hours practicing both regular and cursive characters. Fill out the sheet, then my mom would erase it and I would do it again and again.
- _Microft 4y agoIt might not only train fine motor skills but since learning cursive isn't easy, it might also require practicing focus, self-discipline and tenacity.
- mradek 4y agoTrue. I’m definitely not complaining that I got to learn to read and write cursive. I think it’s a beautiful way to express characters on paper.
- ramraj07 4y agoDigging dirt would probably increase your motor skills better and would be a more useful additional skill.
