- TakeBlaster16 4y agoYes. Unfortunate overloaded jargon. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamic_range_compression https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamic_range_compression It reduces variation in volume, so you can hear the quiet parts without having your ears blown out by explosions or gunfire
