These make it easier to keep track of and understand the changes, and reduce the possibility of making a catastrophic mistake. Preach. I've been doing that in production for about five years. CI/CD builds and tests images for every change and in a daily schedule for updates. Images are gradually rolled to VMs. It took a bit of work to setup properly, but past the first few weeks worked like charm. I even forget we have servers sometimes.
