I just recently started (2/3 months maybe) so read my comment with a grain of salt. I say just try something and go from there. Ever since I started tweeting, I've changed my strategy/tone about 5 times. Some work, some fall flat. Wouldn't have known without trying. It also depends on your goal. If you just want to share your work without focusing on followers, then who cares what your tone is? Just enjoy the process :)
