Also there is afaik no SLA for this! Just marketing.
- harshaw 4y agothis is all over AWS documentation; you get the durability via erasure encoding / replication over multiple AZs in one region. Regional blast radius protects again one AZ going down. You don't run a service like S3 across AZs in different regions because of speed of light. if you are paranoid about a region going down you use replication.
