I hate it so much that you've outlined a very viable use of a blockchain.
- eaurouge 4y agoThe obvious question would be why do you hate it so much. I can't recall the viability of any piece of technology affecting me so negatively. We create technology to solve problems. Even if you can't think of a reason why some technology should exist, I can't imagine why it should elicit such strong emotions.
- thrown_22 4y agoThe CO2 footprint for one.
- bo1024 4y agoYou're a day late with that argument... https://www.technologyreview.com/2022/09/15/1059520/the-merge-is-here-ethereum-has-switched-to-proof-of-stake/ https://www.technologyreview.com/2022/09/15/1059520/the-merg...
- thrown_22 4y agoSo bitcoin has moved to proof of stake?
- LudwigNagasena 4y agoBitcoin doesn’t even have smart contracts. How is it relevant?
- thrown_22 4y agoIs it not a blockchain technology?
- LudwigNagasena 4y agoIt is, however, not the blockchain technology. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Association_fallacy https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Association_fallacy
- thrown_22 4y agoAnd yet it causes more climate change than Scotland.
- bo1024 4y agoThe entire thread is about Ethereum...
- secretsatan 4y agoI doubt it, they just hid the dirty little secret that everyone putting up the stake will now mine it on another chain
- MrPatan 4y ago(Pssst, you're supposed to move the goalposts to "inequality")
- polygamous_bat 4y agoNow think about whether anything at all would be amiss if "the blockchain" were to be replaced by a good old trusted database.
- thrown_22 4y agoWhat happens when someone turns off the database?
