If it's an older panel check to make sure it's not chroma subsampling the red channel.
I had one where I had to change settings to keep any text with red from being a muddy mess.
- bluedino 4y agoSwitching to straight HDMI instead of USB-C to HDMI fixed it!
- rbanffy 4y agoWow! Subsampling red is unbelievably stupid. You usually get away with blue, but subsampling red or green is immediately visible.
- astrange 4y agoSubsampling red is about as common as blue. Digital video, digital cameras, PenTile displays… the only full resolution you're getting is green, because that's the most effective way to get luminance. They mostly don't even use good resampling algorithms either.
- rbanffy 4y agoSorry. I'm shortsighted and, I guess, it gives me the superpower of being able to focus red. OTOH, blue/violet is just a blur.
