Yes, I started Notes in 2014 as a way for me to experiment with Qt and create an elegant-looking note-taking app for Linux. No automation for tasks yet. There is an idea to create a revamp editor [1] that will make this easier. I get what you mean tho, it will be very satisfying to have an animation that shows a task has been completed.
