I run a service that provides content for news sites and a couple of months ago I started replacing some of the charts for a SVG file generated once on the server and distributed to all customers, instead of sending the data and generating it on the reader's device. It took me a lot of time trying to convince some customers to let me do that silly change, it's a tiny bit of power but if we built everything thinking about this I'm sure we could save a lot of energy.
