On a related note, has anyone written up a complete comparison / analysis of the environmental trade offs between electric cars and traditional fossil fuel cars? This would consider all the issues related to creating the batteries (e.g. mining lithium), generating the electricity to charge the batteries (e.g. how much is generated by coal plants), disposal (e.g. how to recycle / bury thousands of pounds of lithium-ion batteries and how toxic is the result), sustainability (e.g., do we have enough lithium to mine indefinitely).
