You can switch between "Home" (default, what you're describing) and "Latest" (what you want) feeds. I'm not sure about a mobile app, if that's what you're using, but on web at least it's the stars-icon-button in the top right of the feed.

Mobile app works the same way. Twitter is basically unusable to me without changing this setting.
