Adobe Thinks It Can Solve Netflix’s Password ‘Piracy’ Problem
- JohnFen 4y ago"Adobe believes that since every user is different, any actions taken against an account should form part of a data-driven strategy designed to “measure, manage and monetize” password sharing. The company’s vision is for platforms like Netflix to deploy machine learning models to extract behavioral patterns associated with an account, to determine how the account is being used." Man, this makes me VERY happy that I cancelled my Netflix subscription.
- ronsor 4y agoWhen Adobe gets involved in a product and it's not a creative tool, you know your experience is about to become ten times worse.
- FractalHQ 4y agoI wouldn’t be so quick to exclude creative tools from this. Even Adobes creative apps are some of the most atrocious spyware infested tech debt laden dumpster fires around, and are never the best option for creative work.
- bears-n-beets 4y agoAs an Adobe employee, I can 100% vouch for this
- TrevorJ 4y agoI'm not sure why anyone would suppose that the issue is that Netflix doesn't KNOW you are sharing your password. Of course they know you are. The real issue is how does Netflix get the horses back in the barn when there are plenty of green pastures for those customers to head off to if Netflix starts chasing after them for this.
- floatinglotus 4y agoSo says Adobe which caused a huge explosion of alternative software and apps because of their draconian licensing which treats the user as a criminal.
- jdlshore 4y agoBefore everyone gets up in arms, this is an unsourced article claiming “Adobe says” it can reduce password sharing. At no point does it say Netflix is actually working with Adobe. In other words, Adobe is marketing a new service, and TFA is using Netflix as an example of a customer they’d like to have.
- DangitBobby 4y agoDo you want 4 people sharing 1 account or do you want 4 people sharing 0 accounts? Because you're not getting 4 people using 4 different accounts.
