In 1998 I was on a contract at a telco and ended up getting drafted to help with their COBOL Y2k issues. I spent my days checking and documenting whether dates were being handled properly and my documentation was sent to India where it was fixed overnight while I slept. When I arrived the next morning, the fixed code was awaiting me to check and document again. Half the time the code still wasn't correct but the cost of Indian labor was low enough that it was still less expensive if they had to fix it two or three times.
