The interesting thing about law is that the folks in charge of it are the least interested in streamlining it. The more byzantine and obscure the legal system is, the more attorneys, clerks, and judges it needs. It is a type of jobs system.
Divorce is an extremely common legal activity, yet there's almost zero commonality in the US about how it goes about, or even what it means. We're not talking about the margins. There are colossal differences about everything having to do with it. And this is within different counties in the same US state.
- user_named 4y agoThere probably should be some friction for getting divorced. Imagine the divorce and re-marrying rate if you could just open your phone settings and toggle divorce/stay. Like unfollowing on Instagram.

Like unfollowing on Instagram. It's actually good for divorces to be cheap and friction-free today. If it were as simple as unfollowing on instagram, imagine the number of people who would be saved the grief of paying child-support, alimony, criminal cases for 10s of years.
