Ask HN: Domain provider less than $10?
I'm looking to transfer my domains to another provider, but keep my hosting in the same place (unless I find a good solution).
If I renew my domains, it will cost me $10 each while some will be $11.95
I don't yet have an account with namecheap.com but I've seen their name used on HN.
Any suggestions or things to stay away from?
- benologist 15y agoI'm a long time user of http://dynadot.com/ http://dynadot.com/, got no complaints.
- wx77 15y agoI use namecheap and https://www.nearlyfreespeech.net/ https://www.nearlyfreespeech.net/ I like both. NearlyFreeSpeech only offers .net .org and .com I believe and you have to pay for extras that some other places give for free (such as dns) if you use those but they have a very nice TOS and general behavior.
- terrellm 15y agoNameCheap is a great one. Also you can usually Google around and find a Godaddy coupon for a cheap transfer in and sometimes even discount renewals. I'd definitely recommend keeping your hosting separate from your domain registrar. Let the hosting companies host websites and the registrars register domains. I've yet to see an all-in-one solution that is both the best registrar and best web host.
