It may not be safer if the bull bar messes with the other safety systems (crumple zones, airbag deployment timings etc). No idea if this was a factor in the rating reduction by ANCAP.
Also be aware that many ANCAP ratings are cut and pasted from overseas tests and many are outdated, referring to previous models.
- wepple 4y agoAlso a bullbar absolutely throws the vehicle off balance if you don’t put in new springs up front. Not sure if they consider that in the ratings.
