Ahh, time to shit on drivers of larger vehicles and pontificate on all the ways we can tax or regulate owners into submission.
I will say one thing we can benefit from is raising the bar to getting your license. It’s extremely easy to get in the US, and it should be much harder. Regardless of what you drive.
- Tokkemon 4y agoIt's so easy because not having a license functionally cuts you out of any sort of economic or social activity except for a very small sliver of people who live in transit-rich cities like New York and Boston. America's car culture is too ingrained to insist on higher standards, or the people would revolt.
- fzeroracer 4y agoRaising the bar to get your license doesn't do anything to solve the problem because people will still drive just as badly once they get their license. Especially the richer, wealthier people that are driving the largest cars on the road already. The actual solution is to either tax larger vehicles into oblivion and force the downsizing of cars so that the vehicle size arms race stops or redesign our road infrastructure further so that pedestrians and vehicles are completely separate.
