A lot of problems like power distribution from certain powersources get resolved with this as well as many other resources like fresh water and fresh food (land is freed up for agriculture),waste disposal,transportation, medical care,etc... This only works so long as they don't shade each other. Which means you end up with something like the Line from Saudi Arabia or ground level NYC where you're lucky to see the sun at noon.
