One reaponse is to say “life is happier without this news” but we can’t all be ignorant all the time and for better or worse the social media conversation does reflexively influence the broader social norms and conversation. I try to remind myself sitting on twitter being angry is MOSTLY a waste of my time, but just because social media is optimized to produce moral outrage, doesn’t mean morally outrageous things aren’t happening.
