I met a guy once who was proud of his insurance covering what amounted to a waist-slimming corset, lined with magnets and an electrical heater like those cancer-causing blankets had in the 70's. Even more bizarre, there were plugins that would increase or decrease the magnetic power, depending on his "needs." It was supposed to help strengthen his spine. Of course relying on a corset to keep everything in line without using back and spine musculature would do just the opposite over time, but he was really excited to save $1500 on the whole kit. A year's worth of batteries came free with it! I didn't have the heart to tell him it was all snake oil, but his enthusiasm for it was really endearing. At least it was insurance, and not his own money. Unfortunately it's guaranteed to make matters worse as his spine and back gets weaker due to lack of use.
