UML came up a few times during my CS program years ago. I found it kind of infuriating at the time since it just seemed to be an idea vacuum cleaner that sucked up so many different diagramming ideas into one place and stuck somebody else's name on it -- plagiarism at an enterprise level. I've grown to somewhat respect it to a point as a formal way of documenting a system, but goodness no, would I never ever design a system with such cruel intent.
