Trump and Biden agree on something – changing Section 230
- rektide 4y ago> "If you claim to support 'fundamental reforms' to Section 230 but can’t or won’t say what those reforms are, I have a hard time taking anything else you say seriously," said James Grimmelmann, a professor at Cornell Law School and Cornell Tech Yup. There's basically no possible way to host user content online without 230. It's impossible to imagine America launching such a massive blow to it's face so swiftly as this pompous, fact free, meanspirited tirade that sadly both recent Presidents are way way way up on their high horse on, without ever having made any kind of a case. Emotional manipulation, fear uncertainty & doubt, & no justification, not even a hint of hoe we possibly could begin to keep the internet alive after this ultra-ton emp to the face. There's basically no free speech online if sites are constantly afraid of their users. Operating a site like HN would be impossible if every time dang banned someome they could turn around & sue. Dropping 230 ends the internet.
